Hack Scratchers

Made for the Cebu Game Developers Game Jam Competition of 2019 (Spoilers: We won first place wooh!)

Hack Scratchers is an action platformer wherein 2 cat burglars climb their respective towers to the death, dodging traps setup by their enemy cat on the other tower. The traps can be upgraded by collecting coins and virus boxes to give the opposing player a harder time, and when things get really rough, the players also have the option to clear all hazards present on screen with a virus clear.

The design goal for this particular project was to create a local multiplayer experience with incredible replay factor in mind. We also try maintaining a simple gameplay loop with unique optional elements to spice things up. We also did some research based on our prior contest entries in order to win and took an understanding with the small filipino audience and their preferred taste in gameplay while keeping up with the team's preferred creative vision as well.
